Aspen Power Partners develops commercial & industrial (C&I), small utility-scale, and community solar projects, as well as energy storage systems, across the United States. In the last year, the company has conducted a number of raises to fund its growth and development of distributed solar; in November 2022 it secured a US$350 million investment from Carlyle – a global investment firm – as part of which Aspen acquired New York-based C&I solar developer Safari Energy.

“This investment is in a platform that will be entirely vertically integrated in the distributed generation space, which includes community, commercial and industrial, and sub-utility solar.”

Pooja Goyal – Chief Investment Officer, Carlyle Infrastructure

We joined Aspen as their WordPress development partner in 2023, shortly after the company’s acquisition of our client Safari Energy.

With a new capital infusion from Carlyle, the company was poised for growth and was very motivated to improve their public presence and drive revenue pipeline via the web. So together with the Aspen team, we crafted a plan to design and build a completely new site. The choice of platform was easily enterprise-grade WordPress, given the company’s plans to scale with demand gen as a very high priority.

In close collaboration with the company’s in-house marketing leadership and and external brand identity partner they had retained, we quickly went to work building out Aspen’s design roadmap, which led to the development of our full UI Kit for the site.

Our team had a really positive experience working on Aspen’s WordPress design and development project. Client-provided content delivered right on time – check. Ready client access for checkpoint reviews and standups – check. Engaged senior executives who paid enough attention to the project to advance it (but not so much as to interfere with progress) – check.

We collaborated closely with our principal client partners throughout the project, and ensured that every detail was tailored to their needs. Despite normal initial project challenges, we were able to deliver a new site whose functionality and design stand out boldly in the industry (especially among the company’s commercial and industrial category competitors).

The end result exceeded the Aspen’s expectations and shown a noticeable impact on their user engagement. As we continue our client partnership with the company under our service level agreement (SLA), the focus of our WordPress efforts will shift more and more to direct support of their business development operations.
